UPGRADE

This feels like being fooled by a double lift, because the guy doing it has the best double you’ve ever seen. I know the moves, I know the techniques, I know the routines. This is a masterclass on refined execution and simplicity in structure. Things I learned from the family that were great feel elevated, things I felt were not strong have immediately slotted into my repertoire in there new and improved forms. The floating break control, a touch of time travel, and just stop have changed from there original forms that were “good but not for me.” To things I can’t stop thinking about and playing with those ideas. Upgrade is accurate, but it’s definitely underselling just how much it’s improved.

Upgrade includes a thoughtfully streamlined collection of card-handling moves that fit together into a real system. Each technique has been pared back to the essentials, so you can execute smoothly and quickly. After only a few days of practice the sleights already feel natural enough I sometimes fool myself. The double lift, for instance, is practically effortless now.

What really impresses me is how the system trims away unnecessary movement. Moves like the floating break control from a spread or the break look relaxed and casual yet leave you set up for types of magic not discussed on the project such as edge-marked work or for keeping a stack intact. Holding the deck by the fingertips, it appears so light and uncontrolling that I don’t need extra false or stock control shuffles.

Minimalistic, elegant, and still flexible, Upgrade feels thoroughly road-tested. And the streamline effects are a great cherry on top. Highly recommended.

As soon as the download came out, I devoured it and learned as much as I could! It is soooo good, just upgraded a whole bunch of the stuff I've learned form UCM 1 and the family.
